A-List Cast Assembles for Danny Boyle’s “28 Days Later” Sequel

The highly anticipated “28 Days Later” sequel is revving its engine with the addition of a powerhouse cast.

According to Deadline, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes have all signed on to star in the first film of the new trilogy from director Danny Boyle and Sony Pictures.

This marks a reunion for Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland, who crafted the original 28 Days Later in 2002.

The film, a global box office success, depicted a world ravaged by a rage virus. The upcoming sequel will be directed by Boyle and penned by Garland.

Comer, Taylor-Johnson, and Fiennes bring a significant boost of star power to the franchise.

Comer, following her Emmy-winning turn in “Killing Eve,” has starred in high-profile films like “Free Guy” and Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel.”

Taylor-Johnson, fresh off his scene-stealing role in Sony’s “Bullet Train,” will next be seen in the Marvel film “Kraven the Hunter.”

Rounding out the cast is the Oscar-nominated Fiennes, known for his diverse roles and acclaimed theatrical performances.

Cillian Murphy, who starred in the original film, returns as an executive producer. Boyle and Garland will also produce alongside Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, and Bernie Bellew.

Plot details remain under wraps, but the casting news signifies Sony’s commitment to the project.

Filming for the first two installments is expected to take place back-to-back, with “Candyman” director Nia DaCosta already tapped to helm the second film.

With a star-studded cast and the original creative team back at the helm, the “28 Days Later” sequel promises a thrilling return to the post-apocalyptic world.
